Top Digital Marketing Services in Kathmandu (2026 Guide)
Kathmandu has hundreds of businesses selling “digital marketing”. The list of services is long and the packages are hard to compare, so most owners end up buying whatever the first agency pitches — often social media posting — and wondering why the phone does not ring.
This guide sorts the top digital marketing services in Kathmandu by what actually moves leads and sales for businesses in the valley. For each one it explains who needs it, what good work looks like and where to see proof. It also covers what these services cost in NPR and how my own practice — Arjan KC working with Gurkha Technology — delivers them.
Disclosure: I am Arjan KC, co-founder and lead strategist at Gurkha Technology in Kathmandu. Results quoted here come only from our published case studies, with client names withheld where they asked.
The short answer
For most Kathmandu businesses, three services do the heavy lifting:
- Local SEO and Google Business Profile — so you appear in Google Maps when someone nearby searches for what you sell.
- Google Search ads — so you can buy your way to the top for high-intent searches while organic work builds.
- Conversion tracking — so you know which calls, WhatsApp messages and forms came from which channel.
Everything else — SEO, Meta ads, social content, websites, WhatsApp follow-up and reputation management — builds on those three. The right mix depends on your business, which is what the rest of this guide helps you decide.
What makes marketing in Kathmandu different
Maps decides a lot of local purchases. Searches like “dental clinic near me” or “plumber Baneshwor” show a map pack first. A business that is missing from that pack is invisible for many of its best customers, no matter how good its website or Facebook page is.
The valley is three cities. Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur behave like separate markets for local search. With traffic, people choose providers close to them, so service areas and location pages matter.
WhatsApp and phone calls are the real inbox. Many leads never fill in a form. They tap “call” or send a WhatsApp message. If those are not tracked, you cannot tell which marketing works.
People search in English, Nepali and Romanized Nepali. Keyword research and ad copy need to reflect how customers actually type, not only textbook English terms.
Demand is seasonal. Dashain, Tihar, New Year, wedding season, SEE and plus-two results all shift demand. Campaigns need to be ready before the peak.
Most browsing is on mobile. Pages need to load quickly on mobile data and make calling or messaging one tap away.
The top digital marketing services in Kathmandu
1. Local SEO and Google Business Profile
What it is: Optimising your Google Business Profile (categories, services, photos, posts, reviews), building consistent listings, and creating location and service pages on your site that support your Maps rankings.
Who needs it most: Clinics, restaurants and cafés, salons, home services, schools, showrooms — any business customers visit or call locally.
What good looks like: Clear categories, a steady stream of genuine reviews with replies, service pages for each main offer, and call and direction tracking.
Proof: For a Kathmandu multi-specialty clinic, Gurkha Technology grew Google Business Profile map views from about 2,100 to 9,240 a month and search and Maps calls by about 85% in six months (clinic case study). For a Kathmandu Valley home-repair business, qualified leads rose from 12–15 to 42–48 a month over six months (home services local SEO case).

2. Google Ads (Search)
What it is: Paid search campaigns that show your ad when people search for exactly what you offer — “IELTS classes Putalisadak”, “emergency electrician Kathmandu”, “study in Australia consultancy”.
Who needs it most: Businesses where one customer is worth a lot (consultancies, clinics, real estate, B2B) and urgent services where people buy the same day.
What good looks like: Tight keyword groups, aggressive negative keywords, landing pages matched to each ad group, and bidding on tracked leads rather than clicks.
Proof: A Kathmandu study-abroad consultancy cut its cost per lead from NPR 3,500 to NPR 2,100 (−40%) and roughly doubled leads from about 90 to 190 a month, while holding spend at NPR 300,000 a month (education PPC case). A Kathmandu plumbing and electrical business cut cost per acquisition from NPR 4,722 to NPR 2,571 (−42%) in 90 days (home services Google Ads case).

3. Search engine optimisation (SEO)
What it is: Technical fixes, site structure, content and links that help your website rank organically for the searches your customers make.
Who needs it most: Online stores, education providers, B2B companies and any business whose customers research before buying.
What good looks like: A keyword map tied to pages that sell, technical health checked monthly, and reporting on leads or revenue — not just rankings.
Proof: For a Kathmandu fashion e-commerce store, organic sessions grew from about 2,300 to 13,500 a month and organic-led revenue roughly tripled in 12 months (e-commerce SEO case). If you run a store, read how to choose an e-commerce SEO agency in Nepal.

What good looks like: Creative tested in small batches, audiences limited to areas you actually serve, and leads tracked through to a sale or booking.

5. Social media management and content
What it is: Planning, creating and publishing content on the platforms your customers use, plus replying to comments and messages.
Who needs it most: Consumer brands, hospitality and food businesses, and anyone whose customers check social pages before visiting.
What good looks like: Content tied to offers, seasons and customer questions, with response times measured. Posting alone rarely produces leads; it works best supporting ads and local SEO.

Service details: web development in Nepal and conversion optimisation.
7. Analytics and conversion tracking
What it is: Setting up Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, call tracking and WhatsApp click tracking so every lead can be traced to a channel.

8. WhatsApp, email and CRM follow-up
What it is: Making sure every enquiry gets a fast reply and a follow-up — WhatsApp Business templates, simple CRM pipelines and email for repeat customers.
Who needs it most: Businesses with lots of enquiries that do not all convert on the first contact — education, real estate, clinics, e-commerce.
What good looks like: A response-time target, a follow-up sequence and a record of which leads became customers.
Service details: WhatsApp marketing and email marketing.
9. Online reputation management
What it is: A system for asking happy customers for reviews, replying to every review, and handling negative feedback calmly and quickly.

What digital marketing costs in Kathmandu
Prices vary widely, so here are the packages I publish:
- 90-day diagnostic: NPR 35,000 one-time — an audit, tracking check and prioritised plan.
- Local demand (local SEO and Maps): from NPR 55,000 a month.
- Google Ads management: from NPR 65,000 a month, plus media spend billed separately. Typical small-business Search tests use NPR 20,000–40,000 a month in ad spend.
Below roughly NPR 25,000 a month, most providers can only offer posting-only social media. That keeps a page active but rarely produces leads. Full packages are on the hire page, and wider market ranges are in the Nepal digital marketing pricing guide.
Arjan KC and Gurkha Technology
Arjan KC is a Kathmandu-based full-stack digital marketing expert covering search, paid media, social, content, websites, analytics and conversion. Gurkha Technology is a Kathmandu digital agency founded by Diwas Pandey, Sushil Ghale, Kapil Amagain, Sudip Dhungel and Bibek Neupane. I joined as co-founder after its first year and lead strategy. More on that relationship is on the Gurkha Technology page.
How the work splits in practice:
- Hire me when you want a named strategist for an audit, local SEO, one ad account, training or consulting.
- Hire Gurkha Technology when you need a team for design, development, content and several channels at once.
It is one practice, not two competing brands. In every case study linked above, I led the strategy and reporting while the Gurkha Technology team delivered implementation.
How to choose a provider in Kathmandu
Whoever you shortlist, ask:
- Can you show a result for a business like mine, with a starting point, a timeline and the data source?
- Which service would you start with for my business, and why that one?
- How will you track calls, WhatsApp messages and forms?
- What will the monthly report show, and who will explain it to me?
- Will I own my ad accounts, Analytics and Google Business Profile?
- Who will actually work on my account?
Walk away from guaranteed rankings, “viral” promises, follower-count targets, bulk backlink packages, and anyone who will not give you access to your own accounts. For a deeper checklist, see how to choose an SEO company in Nepal.
