YouTube Ads Budget in Nepal: Formats, Verified Benchmarks and a NPR 90,000/Month Split
A word on numbers before the numbers: this post uses only benchmarks already published on this site (the YouTube Ads page and the 2027 benchmark report). You will find no CPM, view-rate or CPA figures here beyond those sources — some circulating “Nepal YouTube benchmarks” (CPM 80–250, view rates 15–30%, CPA 300–1,200) are Meta’s numbers mislabeled or figures with no published methodology behind them, and this site does not repeat either. Where measurement is yours to do, the post says so.
1. The verified benchmark table (and what is deliberately absent)
| Metric | Published range (Nepal) | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Bumper CPV (6s non-skippable) | NPR 0.50–2.00 | YouTube Ads page |
| Skippable in-stream CPV | NPR 1–5 (custom intent) | YouTube Ads page |
| Video Action learning minimum | NPR 1,000–2,000/day | YouTube Ads page |
| Meta traffic CPM (for comparison) | NPR 80–200 | Benchmark report |
| Meta sales-retargeting CPM | NPR 100–250 | Benchmark report |
Absent on purpose: YouTube CPM, view-rate and lead-gen CPA benchmarks. No audited series exists on this site for those cells — the service page states this openly (“does not invent NPR 380/inquiry”) — so any article filling them is inventing. Measure yours in the first month and you will own numbers worth citing.
2. Format selection for Nepali SMEs
- Skippable in-stream: the consideration workhorse — storytelling, demos, education consultancies, real-estate walkthroughs. Hook in the first 5 seconds, captions burned in, end card with URL and +977 number.
- Bumper (6s): awareness and remarketing frequency — festival reminders, sale dates, brand mnemonics. Never the closer.
- Shorts: youth D2C reach and retargeting-pool building at the cheapest views; full placement strategy in the Shorts ads guide.
- Demand Gen / Video Action: conversion-leaning when tracking is honest — requires the purchase-tracking implementation or equivalent lead tracking first, otherwise it optimizes blind.
3. Worked NPR 90,000/month split (illustrative — replace volumes with your history)
Arithmetic from the verified table above, not a promise:
| Allocation | NPR | What it buys at published CPVs |
|---|---|---|
| Skippable in-stream (consideration) | ~45,000 | ~9,000–45,000 views at NPR 1–5 CPV |
| Bumper + Shorts (reach + remarketing pools) | ~22,500 | ~11,000–45,000 bumper views at NPR 0.50–2 |
| Reserve to scale the winner | ~22,500 | Deployed month-two into whichever proved cheaper per quality visit |
Rules around the table: minimum daily budgets must clear the NPR 1,000–2,000 learning floor per converting campaign — a 90k budget split across six campaigns learns nothing anywhere. Re-split monthly on measured cost per outcome (quality visits, chats, orders), never on views. Creative production sits outside this media math; budget it separately.
4. Creative requirements for Nepali audiences
Hook in 5 seconds (problem or bold claim), captions always on (silent mobile viewing dominates), 9:16 assets for Shorts inventory, end cards with URL and phone. Language follows the audience: English-first with Nepali keyword coverage for urban buyers, fuller Nepali presentation outside the Valley — same localisation logic as listings in the ASO playbook. Refresh hooks weekly in festival season; crowded feeds punish repeats.
5. When YouTube beats Meta — and when it does not
YouTube wins where sight-sound-motion sells the category (hospitality walkthroughs, education counseling explainers, product demos), where Search + YouTube integration compounds (video builds demand, Search captures it), and where brand storytelling needs seconds Meta placements do not grant.
Meta wins where interest targeting or lookalikes find buyers YouTube cannot isolate, where WhatsApp/DM-led conversion is the funnel (see Reels guide), and where your buyers demonstrably live in Feed/Stories — verify with audience data, not punditry. The Search-vs-Meta decision guide covers the adjacent split.
6. Measurement: view-through without self-deception
Report view-through conversions separately from click conversions and never sum them silently. Primary metrics stay downstream: quality visits, chats started, orders — per the COD playbook join. Brand-lift studies need ~1M+ impressions to read; below that, branded-search lift during flights is the honest proxy.
What to do this week
- Confirm tracking honesty (purchase/lead events verified server-side) before spending on video.
- Produce one 30-second cutdown with hook, captions and end card.
- Launch the 90k split above as a learning month with re-split criteria written down in advance.
