Case Study: Hospitality WhatsApp Booking Funnel (Nepal Method)

A process case for Nepal hotels, lodges, and trek desks — not a KPI scoreboard. Where a booking or occupancy number was never published, this page does not invent one.

Evidence rule: Named brand/site/social proof lives on Treebones Resort. Treebones has no published booking numbers, occupancy %, or ROAS on this site — and this method page does not invent them.

Case details

TypeMethod case study (repeatable funnel), not a single-client KPI report.
IndustryHospitality — hotels, lodges, homestays, trekking agencies (Nepal)
Brand analogueTreebones Resort — owned site (treebonesnepal.com), brand guidelines, Facebook / TikTok / YouTube Shorts, deploy + Cloudflare ops. Public identities only; no booking ledger published.
ProblemGuests enquire on Instagram, OTAs, and Maps, then stall when the property has no clear chat path, rate sheet, or handoff from ads/landings into WhatsApp. Desk staff lose context between seasons.
StrategyTreat WhatsApp as the booking desk: click-to-chat from ads and property pages, prefilled intent, itinerary/rate PDF handoff, and tags for domestic vs inbound — then measure reply quality before chasing vanity reach.
Implementation1) Sticky WhatsApp CTA on mobile property/route pages. 2) Ad and GBP click-to-chat with property + dates in the prefill. 3) Saved replies for room types, trek packages, and payment/deposit rules. 4) Simple CRM or sheet tags (source, season, language). 5) Optional Meta/Search only after the chat path works.
Outcomes (process)Funnels become auditable: every paid or organic click can land in a chat with context. Occupancy lift, booking count, and WhatsApp conversion rates are not published for Treebones or as invented “typical Nepal hotel” KPIs on this page.
Arjan’s roleFunnel design, landing/CTA briefs, creative prompts for short-form that point to chat, tracking hygiene for reply sources.

Problem in Nepal ops

Seasonal demand (spring/autumn trek peaks, monsoon domestic offers) means desks are overloaded or idle — not steadily staffed like a call centre. Guests expect answers on WhatsApp; a form that emails overnight loses the booking. OTAs still matter, but owned chat reduces fee leakage when the property can close direct.

Method

  1. One primary chat number on site, GBP, and ads — not three staff mobiles with no history.
  2. Prefill intent (property, dates, guests) so the first reply is useful.
  3. Assets ready: rate card, itinerary PDF, deposit rules — same files staff would send manually.
  4. Tag sources: Search vs Meta vs Maps vs OTA redirect — without inventing ROAS tables.
  5. Short-form → chat: Reels/Shorts drive curiosity; the CTA is chat or a bookable URL, not “like and share.”

Implementation notes

For greenfield brands, build the owned site and brand system first (as on Treebones), then wire WhatsApp. For live hotels, audit whether ads still send traffic to a homepage with no chat or Nepali/English rate clarity. Pair with seasonal SEO on property and route pages — see SEO for hospitality Nepal.

Outcomes (what we publish)

This page documents process: chat as the booking desk, clear CTAs, and source tags. It does not claim occupancy %, booking volume, or lead lifts. For named hospitality digital work (site, brand, Shorts, web ops), read Treebones — and note again: Treebones has no published booking numbers.
